Brown & Brown Going Tech Route with Everbridge Early Warning Systems

Florida-based Brown & Brown, one of the largest independent insurance brokers in the U.S., this year will begin offering customers advance warning of weather, flooding, fire and other events, along with steps to take to reduce losses.

The broker, headquartered in Daytona Beach, announced it has contracted with Everbridge Inc., a software company that has developed early warning systems for cities, airports and major corporations, according to a news release. Everbridge said its critical event management platform has been used to help deal with terrorist attacks, cyber attacks, supply chain interruptions and product recalls, and to help locate people at risk and to execute crisis commuication plans.

“Brown & Brown will now be able to provide its customers a unique offering that can help to reduce their risk profile,” said Dominic Jones, senior vice president of partnerships and alliances at Everbridge. “Technology has the power to reshape the insurance industry through applying risk intelligence and situational awareness…”

Brown & Brown President Eric Kasen said the move is the first of several technology-based collaboration efforts with Everbridge the company plans to roll out this year, including a cyber insurance product.
