The board of directors for Mississippi-based SouthGroup Insurance & Financial Services has named Cyndi Tullos chief executive officer.
Tullos, the chief operating officer since 2019, replaces Ronnie Tubertini, who was CEO for 21 years, the company said in a statement Wednesday. Tubertini will remain as president and a board member.

Tullos, who joined SouthGroup after leaving the WorldCom telecommunications company in 2002, held leadership roles in the Independent Insurance Agents of Mississippi, ACORD and other organizations. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mississippi College.
SouthGroup said it is Mississippi’s largest privately owned insurance agency, with more than 150 employees in 21 cities. The agency, which offers personal lines, business insurance and workers’ compensation programs, was named in 2022 as one of the best Southeast agencies to work for by Insurance Journal.
