RiskMeter Forms Alliance with Eqecat to Provide EQ, Wildfire Risk Info

October 3, 2001

RiskMeter (http://www.riskmeter.com/), an online source for insurance professionals for automated property lookups, announced an alliance with EQECAT Inc. (http://www.eqecat.com) to provide earthquake and wildfire information based on a risk’s location.

In addition to RiskMeter’s current real-time offerings for determining the distance-to-shore, state windpool eligibility, rating territories and flood zone, RiskMeter will now offer comprehensive information for evaluating earthquake and wildfire hazards. More specifically, the RiskMeter can now determine the landslide susceptibility, soil conditions, distance to fault, AP Fault Zone (if applicable) and MMI for a given property. Also, Individual Earthquake Risk Scores can be provided, as well as Risk Specific Wildfire information.

With the new partnership, Riskmeter can now tap into EQECAT’s modeling, science and risk engineering experience. “We are now able to offer our clients vital information for evaluating wildfire and earthquake hazards that has not been readily available online,” stated Dan Munson, vice president-sales and marketing, RiskMeter.

RiskMeter, a web-based service from CDS Business Mapping, LLC, allows primary insurers, reinsurers, agents, and financial institutions to perform automated property lookups over the Internet. The site allows users to type in an address and a report is generated displaying natural hazard information affecting the rates for a given policy location. E

QECAT Inc., a subsidiary of ABS Consulting, is a catastrophe modeler and consultant to the insurance and financial communities. EQECAT has locations in Europe, the UK and the U.S.
