The Heffernan Group, one of the largest brokerage firms in the country, has acquired DeWolf Insurance Agency, a San Rafael, Calif.-based brokerage firm specializing in small commercial business and personal insurance lines. Under the terms of the deal, DeWolf will transfer its clients to Heffernan Insurance Brokers (HIB), a member of the Heffernan Group, who will manage the book of business.
“DeWolf has made an excellent name for itself during its 42 years in business and its clientele and expertise fits with our current expansion plans,” F. Michael Heffernan, president of the Heffernan Group, said. “We look forward to providing their clients with the same level of expertise and customer service that they have enjoyed with DeWolf.”
The acquisition of DeWolf Insurance Agency, founded by Al Vipiana in 1960, further strengthens HIB’s rapidly growing presence in Sonoma County, Calif. HIB’s Sonoma office provides insurance services to a diverse group of emerging and established industries in the North Bay, including wineries, real estate, technology and construction companies. The office also serves as the primary service center for the firm’s Personal Insurance division.
