Past Speare & Co. President, CEO Passes Away

Bob BorisoffBob A. Borisoff, 75, past president, CEO and one of the founders of California-based Speare & Company Insurance Agents & Brokers, died Aug. 6.

A native Californian, Borisoff had an extensive background in insurance, bonds and facultative reinsurance. He was a Member of the Board of Directors of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers Association of Los Angeles and served on several Producer Advisory Councils including the prestigious AIG’s President’s Council. In addition to being awarded the Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) by the Professional Insurers Association, he also earned the coveted Certified Insurance Consultant (CIC) designation.

Borisoff, a graduate of USC Class of ’47 and Southwestern Law School, was an accomplished athlete. A past officer, board member, chairman and lifetime member of the Amateur Athletic Union, he promoted physical fitness, hosted swim meets, including an Olympic trial and was inducted into AAU’s Hall of Fame. In addition, he was also a member of USC’s Crew. Throughout his life, he competed as an athlete, acted in official capacities and served as an administrator, worked with Milky Way Mars in developing their High School All American Program and worked with the University of Indiana promoting the President’s Fitness Program.

Borisoff is survived by his wife of 52 years, Madelon, his four sons: Brett, Scott, Craig, Derek; nine grandchildren, his sister, Love Danoff and his dog, Frasier.

Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2 p.m. (prompt) at Valley Beth Shalom Lopaty Chapel, 15739 Ventura Blvd. (1 block west of Haskell on the north side of the street). A reception immediately following the service will take place at Café Bizou, 14016 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks.
