E.L.M. Insurance Brokers Inc., a specialist in professional liability, has markets for hard-to-place lawyers in California and for new lawyers, including plaintiff attorneys and sole practitioners.

The hard-to-place program is for attorneys who have been declined by three carriers in the standard market. Coverage is underwritten by an “A-XV”-rated carrier. There is a wide range of policy limits and deductibles, with limits to $5 million/$6 million, and the minimum deductible is $5,000.

Highlights of the program include availability of coverages for prior acts, defendants reimbursement, disciplinary proceedings and successors in business. In addition, annual aggregate deductibles are available.

The coverage for new lawyers offers limits to a maximum of $1 million/$1 million aggregate, with a minimum deductible of $2,500.

Coverage is not available for attorneys involved in entertainment, the Securities and Exchange Commission, intellectual property, and real estate syndicates, although transactional is acceptable.
