Sturm Named COO for Tanner Insurance Brokers

Kenneth Sturm, a 28-year veteran of the insurance industry, has joined Pleasanton-based Tanner Insurance Brokers as chief operating officer. Tanner, one of the largest independent insurance organizations in California, was acquired by Union Bank of California in 2003.

Sturm joins Tanner from The Republic Group based in Dallas, where he served as vice president of operations from 1993 to 2004. He was originally responsible for home office and field operations nationwide, with 10 district offices, and later became the senior officer overseeing all personal lines underwriting with shared accountability for commercial insurance.

Sturm began his career with Allstate in 1976, serving as operations division manager for the commercial insurance division. From 1986 to 1991, he worked for Crum and Forster Personal Insurance, a division of Xerox Financial Services, as western regional manager. He then joined Fireman’s Fund Insurance as director of finance and operations for its commercial insurance center covering Central and Northern California.
