Bratrud Middleton Names New President, Chairman

Tacoma-based Bratrud Middleton Insurance’s President & Chief Executive Officer Charles W. Miller, JD, has been named Chairman & CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2005. Executive Vice President Kurt C. Carlson has been named President & Chief Operating Officer, also effective Jan. 1.

Miller has been in the insurance industry since 1975 and with Bratrud Middleton since 1989. He began his career with Bratrud in Tacoma as a partner and commercial lines producer. He became sales manager in 1993 and was appointed president & CEO in 1995.

During Miller’s 10-year tenure as president & CEO, Bratrud Middleton added two branch offices (one in Bremerton and one in Vancouver, Wash.), employees grew from 100 to 215, and revenues more than doubled from $11 million to $30 million.

As chairman & CEO, he is responsible for the successful implementation of the strategic direction and vision for the company.

Carlson has been in the insurance industry since 1986 and with Bratrud Middleton since 1989. He started at Bratrud as a commercial sales specialist and became a vice president and Partner in 1994. He was sales manager and senior vice president from 1998-2002 and was promoted to executive vice president in 2002.

As president & COO, he is responsible for the overall operations and business affairs of the company.
