Crouse and Associates, a California-based company, has developed a product to fill in some gaps for general contractors or sub contractors for premises liability coverage for the following exposures that are not typically covered in an owner-controlled insurance program.
*Service or warranty work (call back work) when the subcontractor has to go back and do repair work.
*Off premises coverage (away from premises).
The product also can include products/completed operations coverage for repair or remodel work on condo/townhouses done outside an OCIP.
Minimum premiums start at $5,000 for a $1/$2/$1 limit. Limits up to $2/$2/$2 are available.
The product is underwritten by an “A+” XV rated carrier.
In addition to the Accord application and loss history, details of the OCIP projects during the course of the coverage term are required. Each sub contractor would have to purchase his or her own policy, as this is not a wrap-up product. It will be written as a practice policy.
