The Professional Insurance Agents of Oregon/Idaho announced its new officers and presented a number of awards at its 40th Annual Convention and Trade Show in Sunriver, Ore.
Pete Lackner, owner of Rose City Associates, was elected president and will serve until May 2008.
The PIA Oregon/Idaho board includes: President Pete Lackner, owner of Rose City Associates in Portland, Ore., who will serve until May 2008; President Elect Gary Steffen, vice president of Safe and Sound Insurance & Amigos Aseguranzas, in Oregon City and Portland; Vice President Chris Huwalt, branch manager of Western States Insurance in McMinnville; Treasurer Glenda Lile, former owner Prineville Insurance Agency in Prineville; Secretary Peter Ball, owner of Corvallis Insurance Services, Corvallis; National Director Terry Adams, former president of PIA National and owner of Terry Adams & Associates in Portland; and Past President John Desmarteau, member/owner of Beaver State Insurance Agency in Salem, Ore.
Several individuals were recognized for their contributions to the PIA Oregon/Idaho. They include:
PIA Oregon/Idaho Agent of the Year Darlene Grant, owner of World of Insurance in Medford, Ore. She is a former president of the association.
Company Person of the Year Bill Frith of Safeco Insurance.
CSR of the Year Peggy MacMillan of JD Fulwiler & Co. Insurance in Portland.
American Association of Managing General Agencies Award Winner Dawn Irwin of Standard Financing was given the PIA Oregon/Idaho (AAMGA) Award.
Blinders Award winner Susan Sironen of Big Sky Underwriters.
Chairperson of the Year Jessie Dziggel of Sublimity Insurance, who was Oregon/Idaho CISR Committee Chairperson .
Outgoing President John Desmarteau awarded the Presidential Citation to Gary Wolcott, director of communications.
The board terms of former Oregon/Idaho presidents Rich Kingsley, owner of Cammack-Kingsley Insurance in Stayton, and Randy Carlton, owner of Cascade Insurance in Bend, expired this year. Both men were honored by the association for their exemplary service to the PIA.
PIA Oregon/Idaho is an association of independent insurance agents with ties to independent insurance agents of three other chapters of the PIA: Washington/Alaska, Montana and the Group states (AZ, CA, NV, NM). Together the four chapters make up the PIA Western Alliance.
