Arizona Governor Names Patrick to Arizona Workers’ Comp Insurer Board

May 20, 2009

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has named Judith A. Patrick chair of the Board of Directors of SCF Arizona, the state’s largest provider of workers’ compensation insurance. Patrick becomes the first woman appointed to the post, and the Tucson, Ariz., resident is the first chair from outside the Greater Phoenix Area.

Former Gov. Fife Symington originally appointed Patrick to the SCF Board in 1992 and then reappointed her when her first term expired. She retained her position as the board’s vice chair with appointments by governors Jane Hull and Janet Napolitano.

Patrick has been involved in public service since 1973, and worked for 27 years in various roles in Pima County before retiring in 2000. She is a partner in R.G. Patrick Land Planning and Consulting, which provides consulting services in Tucson and Southeast Arizona.

Along with SCF Arizona, Patrick also is the Board chair for SCF Premier Insurance Co. and sits on the boards of the Southwestern Fair Commission Inc. and the Pima County Self Insurance Trust Fund.

In her new role, Patrick said she wants to ensure corporate stability and increasing competitiveness through sound strategic planning, efficient management and well-defined goals.
