Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based Gray-Stone & Co. has named Barbara Howard vice president to head the company’s new product development department.
Howard came out of retirement to take the position. “I’ve known Howard Stone (Gray-Stone’s president) for years and I even worked at Gray-Stone for a while. I called him to catch up with news and realized that I really did miss the industry,” Howard said.
Howard began her insurance career at Republic-Vanguard Insurance Co. in the late 1960s. From there she worked with a number of companies and retail agencies. She worked closely with Gray-Stone during her 20 years at Chubb, Los Angeles. She enjoyed a few years at Allianz as commercial lines vice president and left there to work at Gray-Stone in new product development. Most recently Howard retired from CIBA where she worked in its Glendale, Calif., branch and then moved to Las Vegas where she opened the CIBA Las Vegas Branch office.
