Risk Management Solutions (RMS) has appointed Dr. Guru Rao to the role of senior vice president, Portfolio Solutions Product Marketing. Dr. Rao brings 20 years of experience to the role, including nearly 14 years with Aon Benfield, where he recently grew the company’s business in Asia by launching Aon Specialist Services and Aon Benfield India.
During his time as president of Aon Benfield India and a board member of Aon Specialist Services, Dr. Rao established a global service unit, recruiting and developing specialized risk management and software teams to build and deliver solutions to clients worldwide. Before becoming president, Dr. Rao established and managed Aon Re’s product development unit in Chicago that built CatPortal – Aon’s online catastrophe risk management system and winner of Oracle’s Spatial Innovation award – and tools for reinsurance treaty pricing.
His experience at Aon also includes rebuilding and leading the North America and Latin America catastrophe risk management group in Chicago, catastrophe actuarial work, and advising clients on catastrophe risk management and reinsurance. Prior to that, he worked for Impact Forecasting, where he researched and developed catastrophe models for retail and reinsurance brokerage units and managed the client services team.
