March 20, 2014

Red Cross officials have announced the release of a smartphone application they hope will save lives if Colorado and Wyoming experience floods from runoff this spring.

Colorado FloodingThe free app gives iPhone, iPad and Android smartphone and tablet users instant access to local and real-time information, so they know what to do before, during and after a flood.

Among other features, it includes “I’m safe” messaging that allows users to let family and friends know they are out of harm’s way, as well as a toolkit with a flashlight, strobe light and audible alarm.
