July 16, 2015

Uber is settling lawsuit with the family of a 6-year-old girl who died when a company driver hit her with his SUV.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports the company is paying the family an undisclosed settlement for the 2013 crash on New Year’s Eve that killed 6-year-old Sofia Liu and hospitalized her mother for several weeks.

Police say 57-year-old Syed Muzzafar failed to yield at a San Francisco crosswalk and hit Liu, her mom and her 5-year-old brother Anthony.

A statement from Uber said the company hopes a settlement helps the family move forward.
