California’s Topa Insurance Company Promotes Yates, Tillinghast

Topa Insurance Company, one of the wholly owned subsidiaries of Topa Insurance Group – a boutique insurance holding company based in Calabasas, Calif. – has promoted Kelly Yates to vice president of Claims and Tracy Tillinghast to assistant vice president of Information Technology.

In his new role, Yates will have direct oversight of the claims department. He brings more than 18 years of multi-line claims experience to the position, working in multiple states and jurisdictions.

Yates has been a member of Topa Insurance Company since he joined Topa nearly six years ago. In his most recent role, he had direct oversight of the Property and Commercial Auto claim units as well as the Special Investigations units.

Prior to joining Topa, Yates worked at State Farm Insurance and State Auto Insurance.

In his new role, Tillinghast will be responsible for building productive and collaborative relationships with Topa’s internal business departments as well as its external partners. He will also work to drive the company’s technology strategy.

Tillinghast joined Topa Insurance in 2018, bringing more than 25 years of insurance technology experience. Over the past year, his expertise has been utilized collaborating across departments to ensure IT continues to deliver solutions that support the needs of the organization.

Prior to joining Topa, Tillinghast worked at the California State Automobile Association.
