January 3, 2022

Alliant Insurance Services named James Fraser senior vice president in its employee benefits team in Denver, Colorado.

Fraser will provide employee benefits solutions for a diverse base of regional and national clients.

Fraser has two decades of experience designing and deploying employee benefits programs for clients across a range of industries and sizes.

Fraser was previously a senior vice president with Aon. He was with Mercer before that.

Alliant is a distributor of insurance products and services.

The California Workers’ Compensation Institute named Sara Widener-Brightwell to succeed Ellen Sims Langille as general counsel.

Widener-Brightwell will manage the CWCI’s internal and external legal affairs, serve as staff liaison to the legal committee, analyze regulatory and legal issues affecting California workers’ comp and help develop research and legal programs for institute members and other workers’ comp stakeholders.

She will begin working at the CWCI in early January, which will allow for a transition as Sims Langille moves toward retirement in May.

Widener-Brightwell began in California workers’ comp as a claims adjuster at the State Compensation Insurance Fund, and after receiving her law degree in 1994 began her career as a workers’ compensation defense attorney.

The CWCI provides data and analyses on issues and trends affecting California workers’ comp.
