Woodruff Sawyer Names Schmidt Producer for Pacific Northwest Region

Woodruff Sawyer announced Tim Schmidt as the new vice president, producer, for the Seattle, Washington, office. Before joining Woodruff Sawyer, Schmidt served seven years at Parker, Smith and Feek, where he was a construction and P&C producer. Schmidt also served for 10 years in commercial banking.

Schmidt is certified as a construction risk insurance specialist. In his new role, he will partner with construction clients and be directly involved in the placement of insurance through guaranteed cost, loss-sensitive and alternative risk programs.

Pie Insurance Makes VP Hires in Wake of New Funding

Denver, Colorado-based Pie Insurance, a, insurtech company specializing in workers’ comp insurance for small businesses, has announced three leadership team hires:

Rick Poulin, new vice president of underwriting, will oversee the company’s business planning, forecasting, and loss and expense management. He recently spent a decade at Travelers, where he was the company’s vice president of workers’ comp.

Joshua Brost, new vice president of marketing, joins Pie with nearly 20 years of experience focused on building integrated and data-driven marketing teams at both startups and large enterprises. Before Pie, Brost led digital and integrated marketing at Bolt and Microsoft.

Sam Elizondo, new vice president of claims operations, s responsible for building out Pie’s quality, shared services, training, contact center, and special investigations unit. Elizondo brings over 17 years of experience in the financial industry and worked in P&C benefits at The Hartford Insurance company.

These new leadership members join Pie after the company recently raised a $315M Series D round of funding.
