World’s Largets Writing Catalog for Claims Professionals Plans Spring Expansion

Sponsored Content April 2, 2003

“The Claims Writer’s Catalog,” the world’s large listing of low-cost reports, posters, books, and services aimed at helping insurance professionals improve their communications, will add four new reports this Spring.

Gary Blake, publisher of the catalog as well as a writing consultant who presents on-site seminars for claims and underwriting professionals across the country, comments: “Few businesspeople have to write as often as insurance professionals. They write hundreds of letters annually to claimants, physicians, attorneys, agents, reinsurers, commissioners, agents, and many others. ‘The Claims Writer’s Catalog, which offers quick, practical help on specific insurance writing issues, will soon offer a variety of new reports aimed at a number of segments of the industry.”

The Catalog’s new reports for Spring 2003 will be “Eliminating Passive Voice,” “Ten tips on Writing Perfect RE Lines,” “Improving Agents’ and Brokers’ Correspondence,” and “Eight Tips on How To Express Mathematics, Numbers, and Monetary Units in Claims Correspondence.” These brief reports use actual examples drawn from the writing of claims professionals across the country.

Dr. Blake, author of The Elements of Business Writing (Macmillan, 1994) and Director of The Communication Workshop, has presented on-site Claims Writing seminars for more than 100 insurance companies, including AIG, CIGNA, Allstate, UNUM Provident, CNA, Balboa, and Farm Bureau.
