PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY AGENCY ENTERS LAWYERS PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY MARKET
Dirk Kruidenier and Maria Mandolini Named Vice Presidents of New Division
MOUNT KISCO, New York (April 29, 2002) – Professional Indemnity Agency, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has entered the lawyers professional liability insurance market by employing the former underwriting team of Pelican Insurance Services, Inc. It has engaged the services of Dirk Kruidenier and Maria L. Mandolini to head the new division, which will be housed at PIA’s San Francisco office. Initially, the limit of liability will be $1,000,000, with business written only in California through Houston Casualty Insurance Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc.
Entry into this market is part of PIA’s strategy to be responsive to broker and client needs by offering a broad range of product and service options. The new Lawyers Professional Liability Division will be underwriting lawyer’s errors and omissions policies, targeting firms with fewer than 15 attorneys.
A resident of Vallejo, California, Dirk Kruidenier has 28 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to founding Pelican Insurance Services in 1996, he was President of Western Insurance Services, where he developed and established a professional liability program.
Maria Mandolini, a resident of Petaluma, California, joins PIA with a wealth of experience in underwriting lawyers professional liability insurance. Prior to joining Pelican, she was in private practice as an attorney-at-law.
