San Diego, CA, December 14, 2017 – Arrowhead General Insurance Agency, Inc. (Arrowhead) has announced the addition of Alan Nelson as West region leader of Arrowhead Core Commercial. Al comes to Arrowhead with over 30 years of underwriting experience and deep relationships with western agents and brokers. The addition of Nelson completes the Arrowhead Core Commercial field leadership team with Christine Brewer leading the East region and recently promoted Karen Leet leading the Central region.

Arrowhead Core Commercial launched in July 2017 as a collaboration between Arrowhead and QBE North America. Arrowhead is the program administrator of QBE’s small commercial insurance portfolio, comprised of property and casualty accounts with premiums under $100,000. In addition to adding teammates, the program is making enhancements that include updated products and an e-commerce portal scheduled to rollout in 2018.

“We’re delighted to welcome Al Nelson to our West region team, who comes to us with 30 years of underwriting experience at Travelers,” said Walter Grote, president of Arrowhead Core Commercial. “Karen Leet brings over a dozen years of commercial underwriting experience to lead our Central region. And Christine Brewer, a 14-year QBE veteran, heads up our East region.”

Nelson has also added two experienced underwriting professionals to his team of 11: Vanessa Ocampo and Arlington So, both in Southern California.

“To set the stage for profitable growth, Arrowhead and QBE aim to create an industry-leading small commercial property and casualty insurance program by harnessing the strengths of both companies,” Grote explained. “The result will be a robust online platform for small commercial BOP and package policies with supporting lines such as commercial auto, workers’ comp, cyber and umbrella. And for broader and more complex risks, we have a deeply experienced team of underwriters standing by to help.”

As program administrator, Arrowhead performs all underwriting and servicing responsibilities on behalf of QBE except claims management, which will remain with QBE. As the insurance provider, QBE retains full financial responsibility for premiums and losses, managing the products and appetite for risk.
