James Klein, Founder of James Klein Insurance, passes away at the age of 73

Arcadia, CA, April 17, 2020 – James Klein passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 after battling pancreatic cancer for over a year. Jim began his insurance career in 1971 as an underwriter in the Fresno office of Aetna Life and Casualty. He transitioned to a new role at the Fireman’s Fund as a sales representative in the San Fernando Valley in 1973 before realizing that the surplus lines industry was the segment he wanted to pursue. He joined The Excess and Special Risk Market Inc. (ESRM), a division of the Fireman’s Fund, concentrating on surplus lines placements, as the San Francisco Manager in 1979. He moved permanently to Los Angeles in 1981 becoming the VP of George F. Brown and Sons Inc. after they had been acquired by the Fireman’s Fund. He eventually became a partner at Canon Insurance Services in Beverly Hills in 1983 before deciding to start his own business, James Klein Insurance, based in Arcadia, California in 1985 where he specialized in insurance coverage for entertainment related risks.

Jim is survived by his sons, Jonathan and Nicholas, and his incredible daughter Kelliann. He will be missed by his friends, family, and his associates at JKI Insurance.
