And the winner is …

It’s the Academy Awards for the insurance industry … a star-studded evening featuring the best of the best in insurance marketing, communications and advertising. I am talking about the 54th Annual IMCA Showcase Awards, and the deadline to enter your best work is coming up soon (April 2nd).

If you aren’t familiar with IMCA, it’s the Insurance Marketing and Communications Association. The awards gala is held on the last night of the annual meeting. This year it’s in Denver from June 24 – 27.

I was asked to be one of the judges last year when the judging took place in Chicago over the course of two days. It wasn’t until then I realized just how big of a deal it is to win. There are hundreds and hundreds of entries in 35 different categories – everything from internal corporate communications to TV and radio commercials. There are even categories for low budget accomplishments. The most unique category is “The Best Idea Never Produced.” Most companies have one or two of those!

It’s the perfect opportunity to see how your efforts stack up against your competitors. It’s also a great way to get ideas from other segments of the industry.

I am proud to say that the top winners last year, American Modern and CNA, are both my clients. (I didn’t judge either of their categories so there wasn’t anything fishy going on!) Here is a link to a quick video from last year’s event and a full list of the winners.

You don’t have to be an IMCA member to submit your work and the fee for each entry is minimal. Here are the official Showcase Awards entry details.

Good luck!
