E&O for a tutor?

Post by dynamite »

Hello!

I have a client who is a tutor and teaches math at home
to the students.

She approached to find out if she needs E&O,
does she need it or not?

Please let me know.

Tutor E&O

A tutor is another word for a teacher. Teacher's liability is readily available in the marketplace. Many homeowners insurance companies also offer endorsements related to educators legal liability (ELL). Horace Mann might be your best bet.

If they are teaching in a public or private school already the ELL from the school probably follows them in any teaching they do.

Been there done this - don't spin your wheels on this one - rates are going to be more than they want to pay. If the tutor is affiliated with a school, they can get the coverage thru them for less than $300. a year.

Not E&O, but I agree that she could need a teacher's liability policy; also tack on the capital punishment endorsement just in case. When this huge transaction is complete, you should net about 80 bucks. If you have her homeowners, TRY to get her to up her liability or buy an umbrella; if this is tutoring in her home, she CAN NOT be too careful. Good luck.
