August 23, 2007

Waukesha, Wis.-based Markel American Insurance Co. today announced the completion of the custom board track racer style motorcycle built by Markel American Associates through its “Markel Builds Fun” project to raise money for the Victory Junction Gang charity.

Entries to win the motorcycle in a sweepstakes will be accepted until Aug. 31, 2007 at http://www.markelbuildsfun.com. No purchase is necessary to enter, but entrants are encouraged to donate to the Victory Junction Gang. The drawing will be held in late September 2007.

“This project was great fun and I can’t wait to see the face of the winner when we present it to them,” said Dale Moldenhauer, builder and marine underwriter.

Markel American Associates Tom Conroy, Mark Hoedel and Dale Moldenhauer built the motorcycle from a rolling chassis kit purchased from Milwaukee Iron in Lynchburg, Va. Numerous Wisconsin companies were also involved in the project including Hoban Brothers Cycle Shop in Newton, Auto Source in Chilton, Custom Designs in Malone, and Innovative Auto Body in New Holstein. Each company played a key role in seeing this bike through to completion.
