North Dakota Town Approves Agreement to Build Levees, Channels

August 15, 2008

Fargo, North Dakota officials have approved an agreement with the Southeast Cass Water Resource District to build a $100 million system of levees and channels to control flooding.

The commission’s vote Monday was 5-0, despite letters from Horace City Attorney Jonathan Garaas saying the deal needs approval from his city and that only Fargo should be assessed for the project.

Mayor Dennis Walaker said the project to control flooding by the Wild Rice and Red rivers is too big to be delayed.
