Auto, Homeowner Claims from Severe Midwest Weather Add Up for State Farm

State Farm said last week it had received over 6,000 homeowner claims and more than 5,000 auto claims related to severe weather that pummeled the Midwest on May 27 and 28.

The company reported around 6,110 total homeowner claims — approximately 2,680 in Illinois, 1,700 in Ohio, 2,680 in Illinois, 1,310 in Nebraska, 940 in Pennsylvania, 330 in Missouri, and 420 in Indiana — related to the late May outbreak of severe weather and tornadoes in those states.

State Farm had received approximately 5,220 total auto claims — around 1,640 in Illinois, 2,240 in Pennsylvania, 1,290 in Colorado, 1,030 in Ohio, 240 in Indiana, 360 in Missouri, and 1,020 in Nebraska — related to those storms.

In earlier severe weather, State Farm has received around 1,130 total homeowner claims — approximately 470 in Illinois and 660 in Missouri — related to the May 22 severe weather outbreak/tornadoes in those states.

The company also received approximately 310 auto claims in Missouri related to the May 22 storms.

State Farm said it had received approximately 790 homeowner claims from high winds/tornado activity on May 25 in Oklahoma.
