Program Administrators Earn Best Practices Honor

November 3, 2008

The Target Markets Program Administrators Association (TMPAA) awarded member agencies, Willis Programs, Glatfelter Insurance Group, Oryx Insurance Brokers, and Synergy Professional Associates the Association’s Best Practice Designation at the recent Program Summit in Tempe, Ariz., where more than 600 program business professionals attended, including the 50 program carriers.

The TMPAA Best Practices designation program encourages members to look for greater efficiencies in the way they currently do business and ultimately be recognized by program business professionals as a best in class operation. The process includes surveys, onsite evaluations by experts and a final report.

“The Best Practice Designation remains key to our future as an association and as program administrators,” states Greg Thompson, TMPAA president. “During the course of this year we solicited detailed feedback from our carrier partners and overhauled the Best Practice Certification Process in order to make it more relevant to their needs, and increasing its value to our membership. All four of the agencies receiving this designation were evaluated with this higher standard, and demonstrated proficiency in the program business areas under review.”

Tony Campisi, president and CEO of the Glatfelter Insurance Group stated, “The award is a reflection of the ideals we strive to achieve in the program world, and an important benchmark for all program specialists to reach in becoming a best in class operation.”

“It was an exercise well worth doing. In preparation for the audit we took an introspective look at our operations and procedures — we realize that keeping high standards is a journey and not a destination,” said Ira J. Dawer, president of Synergy Professional Associates. “The designation we believe is a value added proposition to our company partners and our producers.”

Tim Cappellett, vice president of Oryx Insurance Brokerage Inc. said, “The Best Practice Designation validates the hard work and commitment we strive to provide to our insurance partners, brokers and insureds.”

“This designation represents the hallmark of quality in program management and Willis Programs is very proud of this accomplishment,” said David Hampton, president and CEO of Willis Programs. “I strongly encourage all program managers to obtain the Best Practice Designation.”

“Through the recognition of best in class program operations, as well as the expertise of the specialists and administrators who run these operations, the association impacts not only those honored, but also challenges all in the industry to strive for business excellence,” said Craig Fundum, president of Zurich Programs & Direct Markets.

The Target Markets Program Administrators Association’s Eighth Annual Summit was held on Oct. 13-15 in Tempe, Ariz.
