The Republic Group announced the creation of a new managing general agency, Republic Home Protectors Inc. The MGA, based in Houston, Texas, will market lower value property coverage in Texas through independent agents. Republic Home Protectors is majority owned by Republic Companies Inc.
Terry Cotter has been named president of the MGA. In joining forces with Republic, Cotter will develop a new line of personal lines property products designed to serve the lower valued property market in Texas. The focus of Republic Home Protectors is to provide insurance for those dwellings which do not qualify for coverage in mainstream markets.
“Reasonable underwriting, combined with a commitment to being easy to do business with, is at the forefront of our business philosophy,” Cotter said.
“Terry brings a wealth of expertise and industry experience, having served most recently as president of Columbia Lloyds Insurance Company. The product line he will develop will give our agency partners an even wider portfolio of personal lines property products from which to choose,” said Parker Rush, Republic’s president and CEO.
