September 27, 2011

A Metairie, La., insurance agent has been arrested for insurance fraud, state officials say.

The Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit arrested Angela Bodenheimer, 49, on one count of insurance fraud, the Louisiana Department of Insurance reports.

LDI Fraud Section Investigators also served Bodenheimer with a with a six month license suspension and a $1000 fine notice.

It is alleged that Bodenheimer, realizing that the insurance policy on her vehicle had lapsed after the vehicle was involved in a wreck, fraudulently manipulated an insurance company upload system in order to create an application for insurance and a declaration page that showed the effective date and time of the policy as being prior to the accident.

She then filed a fraudulent claim with the company for the accident.

According to department records, Bodenheimer was issued a property/casualty and fidelity/surety license in May 1986, which is active until the six month suspension becomes effective on Oct.24, 2011.

Bodenheimer has 30 days from time of service to appeal this action.
