A Texas Panhandle woman and man must serve five-year prison terms for seeking to have her estranged husband killed in a failed $1 million insurance plot.
Brandi Nicole Blanco of Dalhart and Randy Exavier Greene, who lived in Stratford, were sentenced by a federal judge in Amarillo.
Prosecutors say the pair, who got engaged even though Blanco was still married, pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to use an interstate commerce facility in commission of murder-for-hire. Nobody was hurt.
Prosecutors say Blanco and Greene moved to Florida last January, then used a cellphone to call Texas to try to solicit a man to kill Blanco’s husband. The man being asked to carry out the plot instead contacted Dalhart police.
