Rogan, Ervin Join Sunshine State Insurance’s Senior Management Team

John Lombardo, board chairman of Sunshine State Insurance Company of Ponte Vedra, Fla. has announced the elections of two senior executives to the firm’s senior management team, John E. Rogan, president and chief executive officer, and Richard L. Ervin Jr., executive vice president and chief financial officer. Both employees joined Sunshine State in 1999.

Rogan is a seasoned Florida insurance executive with senior management in the company and agency sides of the business. He was previously Sunshine State’s vice president of marketing and commercial underwriting.

Ervin has served as CFO at three insurance companies over the last 18 years. He was previously Sunshine State’s vice president and CFO.

“We’re pleased to name two top officers who know the company and the Florida and Southeastern insurance markets,” Lombardo said.

Prior to joining Sunshine, Rogan was vice president of CGU Insurance Company in Maitland, Fla. He successfully integrated the Florida operations of General Accident and Commercial Union after the two companies merged. Earlier, he was vice president and agency manager of Naughton Insurance Services in Jacksonville, Fla., a multi-line agency writing business across the U.S. For six years he also served as vice president with CIGNA Property and Casualty Companies in Jacksonville.

Prior to joining Sunshine, Ervin was a senior vice president, CFO and director of American Surety and Casualty in Jacksonville, Fla. Prior to that position he was vice president, CFO and director of Old Dominion Insurance Company in Jacksonville.

“QualSure’s operations are being seamlessly assumed by Sunshine to provide enhanced service to agents and policyholders,” Rogan said.

Sunshine State recently merged with QualSure Insurance Company in Sarasota, Fla. and is growing its operations in South Carolina where it writes homeowners and builders’ risk insurance.
