Sunshine State Insurance Co. Makes Several Promotions

Three veteran underwriting executives — Michael Solano, Robert Thomas, and Michael Weis — have been promoted to assistant vice president at Sunshine State Insurance Company (SSIC). Sunshine State is a writer of homeowners’ insurance and related lines in Florida. The company also has operations in South Carolina.

Solano will serve as assistant vice president-Underwriting Operations. He has been with SSIC for six years, serving most recently as underwriting manager in charge of underwriting oversight, the High Value program, and technical support. Solano has 26 years of underwriting experience in Florida and the Southeast.

Thomas will serve as assistant vice president-Underwriting Product Management. He has been with SSIC for two years in charge of product management and filings. Thomas has 35 years of multi-state, regional company experience, including 12 years in Florida.

Weis will serve as assistant vice president-Underwriting Special Programs. He has been with SSIC for five years, most recently as manager of Builder’s Risk, Difference in Conditions, and Flood insurance programs, where he was in charge of special program oversight and filing technical support. Weis has 14 years of underwriting experience in Florida and the Southeast.

Solano, Thomas, and Weis will assume many of the responsibilities formerly held by Michael Cratem, vice president-Underwriting, who left the company to pursue other interests.
