A master’s degree program focusing on risk management and insurance, offered entirely on the internet has been announced in a collaborative effort by The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research and the Florida State University College of Business, students may now earn a prestigious designation while earning a Master’s of Science degree online.

With the goal of providing lifelong career education, the partnership allows the flexibility to participate in programs offered by two of the nation’s top providers of insurance and risk management education.

FSU’s Master’s of Science in Management with a major in Risk Management/ Insurance (MSM in RMI), the first master’s program focusing on risk management and insurance offered entirely via the Internet, is designed for working professionals who wish to study part-time in order to advance their careers. The curriculum concentration is in Property & Liability insurance. Graduates include prominent insurance and risk management industry leaders. The program has been offered since 2001.

Credit toward earning two premier designations – Certified Risk Managers (CRM) and Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) – will be granted to students enrolled in FSU’s RMI courses and will apply toward earning either designation. “Getting both a master’s degree and a designation is a very worthwhile way for insurance companies, risk management entities, and agencies to invest in their people,” said William T. Hold, Ph.D., president of The National Alliance.

“This innovative collaboration provides a first-rate learning opportunity with a faculty committed to working with students to offer a high level of personal interaction,” explained Bruce M. McCreadie, chairman of the board of CIC. “Students tailor the program to their individual goals and have access to the best faculty and the highest quality courses.”

Florida State University’s undergraduate risk management and insurance program is ranked among the top 10 in the country by U.S. News & World Report. “FSU is recognized as a leader in insurance education and distance learning. FSU has also been designated one of the ‘most wired’ universities in the United States,” said Patrick F.
