The MacNeill Group of Sunset, Fla. was recently honored with a presentation and plaque by the Professional Insurance Agents of Florida for supporting the association for more than 50 years. Since its beginning 60 years ago, MacNeill has been a part of some of the largest and most progressive insurance undertakings in Florida. The company now employs about 350 people who transact with 3,000 agencies in Florida, processing in excess of $500 million in premiums for more than 385,000 policyholders.
PIA’s CEO Mark O’Connell, in presenting the award, said that, “MacNeill has an unsurpassed commitment to PIA of Florida, as evidenced by their 50-year strong membership, the longest-standing partner membership in our organization. This commitment to PIA extends to agents across the state and is evidenced by MacNeill’s support during the horrific 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons when the company reached out to insureds and agents alike, offering assistance.”
The day that Hurricane Charley hammered the southwest coast of Florida in August 2004, MacNeill Group’s president Doug Bullington called PIA of Florida’s office, saying, “How can we help?” Through our close partnership, Bullington graciously donated the use of one of MacNeill’s Mobile Response Vehicles, an RV stocked with supplies to assist agents in need. MacNeill and PIA of Florida staff used MacNeill’s MRV as a staging area for aiding affected agencies and policyholders in the hurricane-ravaged area.
MacNeill’s dedication to agents continued throughout the devastating 2004 hurricane season and into 2005’s–even when the company had direct damage as a result of Hurricane Wilma. Phil Zelman, president of NCF Insurance Associates in Coral Gables and PIA of Florida officer, said, “My agency has been working with MacNeill since our inception 25 years ago, and before that, one of our founders worked with them. I am constantly amazed at their devotion and passion to superior customer service that permeates the entire company—and I know it’s one of the keys to its success.”
