Georgia Couples Who Own Land in Florida Sue BP

July 15, 2010

Two Atlanta couples are suing BP PLC for damages as a result of the Gulf oil spill.

The class-action lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court of Northern Georgia, seeks compensation for loss of income, property value and enjoyment by Georgians who own land or homes in Florida, Alabama and other states impacted by the spill.

It names Chris Schorr and Kimberly Schorr, of Atlanta, and Roy Moscattini and Lori Moscattini, of Duluth, as Georgia plaintiffs.

According to the lawsuit, the Schorrs own about a third of an acre in Cape San Blas, in Gulf County, Fla. The Moscattinis own property in Miramar Beach, in Walton County, Fla.

Atlanta law firms Taylor English and Pope, McGalmry, Kilpatrick, Morrison & Norwood are representing the plaintiffs.
