Insurer, Agent Help Rebuild West Virginia Fire Station

December 13, 2010

Sissonville Volunteer Fire Department is getting $10,000 from State Farm Insurance to help replace a fire station and three fire trucks destroyed in a blaze.

The insurance company announced Friday it would donate the money to help rebuild the fire department’s main station that burned down in an Oct. 1 electrical fire. The Charleston Gazette reported that the donation is made up of a grant and a personal donation from insurance company agent Lisa Godwin.

The department’s board of directors has estimated it needs to raise an additional $350,000 to rebuild and re-establish itself. The department’s insurance covered approximately half of the $2 million in damage caused by the October fire.
