Wilson Smith Group Acquires Tennessee Transportation Agency

Wilson Smith Group, LLC said it has acquired a majority of the outstanding shares of the Nashville, Tenn.-based managing general agency, Greenwich Transportation Underwriters, Inc.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Greenwich Transportation Underwriters is led by Ben Armistead, chairman and Ward Stein, president. Both executives have entered into long-term agreements to remain with GTU and each will retain a significant percentage of stock.

Mark M. Smith, the current president and managing member of Wilson Smith Group, LLC will become chief executive officer and chairman of the board. Ward Stein will retain his role as president and chief operating officer and Ben Armistead will serve as executive vice president and vice chairman of the board.

Wilson Smith Group, LLC , established in 2009, is a national managing general and underwriting agency of specialty products and programs with locations in New York, Tennessee and Texas. Headquartered in New York, the firm is led by Mark Smith, a 34 year veteran of the wholesale specialty and program marketplace. Smith is former president and CEO of the Stewart Smith Group and, most recently, was president of AmWINS Brokerage.
