Memphis Fund to Handle Pothole Claims

March 19, 2015

Officials say a $20,000, “Pothole Relief Fund” has been established to help pay more than 300 claims from motorists who ran over potholes created by icy roads in Memphis.

Tennessee experienced winter storms in February and March that dropped freezing rain, sleet and snow on city roads. Potholes were caused when roads froze, then thawed, causing cracks in the asphalt that broke apart as vehicles drove over them.

According to officials, work crews have fixed more than 13,700 potholes on Memphis roadways in the past two weeks.
