Family of Tennessee Man Who Died While Scuba Diving in Florida Sues Dive Shop

September 7, 2016

The wife of a Tennessee man who died during a scuba dive in the Florida Panhandle is suing the dive shop.

The News Herald reports the lawsuit filed Aug. 30 in Panama City claims negligence against Coast Adventures LLC, Diving PCB and the Professional Association of Dive Instructors.

Authorities say 52-year-old Kevin Michael Kimbley of White House, Tennessee, died July 11 after his first dive.

Coast Adventures manager Mike Luttrell says the incident was utterly tragic.

Sheriff’s officials say the instructor checked the divers every minute. At the last “eyes on” inspection, Kimbley had an issue with his flippers, which was fixed. Less than a minute later he was missing.

His body was found floating about 30 minutes later. They say his equipment was working properly.
