AARIS Employees Raise Nearly $179,000 for Katrina Relief Efforts

September 14, 2005

As part of an ongoing commitment to its community outreach programs, American All Risk Insurance Services announced that it has donated $178,939 to the American Red Cross Katrina relief efforts.

“Giving back to our communities is an essential part of our business plan every year,” said Chairman of the Board Louis B. Rovens. “Our employees are instrumental in making our fund-raisers a success and we look forward to our continued efforts of giving back to our communities.”

Having personally experienced the damage from the Loma Prieta earthquake in October 1989, Rovens said he invited his workforce to contribute what they felt they could to relieve the suffering caused by hurricane Katrina. Rovens further incented his employees by contributing a 10-to-1 match to all monies raised.

“My business was physically damaged by the 1989 earthquake and I nearly lost it all. I had to start over from scratch. I can only imagine the despair Katrina has caused,” Rovens said.

AARIS, as well as other affiliated companies owned by Rovens, contributes to other non-profits and local schools as part of its ongoing community outreach programs.

Since 1998, AARIS has provided workers’ compensation insurance products and services through a network of more than 1,000 producers throughout California. In the last seven years, the company has experienced significant growth and success, with calendar-year premium writings in excess of $500 million. Since October 2004, AARIS has partnered with National Liability and Fire Insurance Company, a member of the Berkshire Hathaway group of insurance companies. AARIS and National Liability and Fire Insurance Company together, are committed to serving the needs of the California workers’ compensation market.
