Farmers Appoints Harwood Vice President

Jim Harwood, former assistant vice president over Agency Training at Farmers Insurance has been promoted to the position of vice president, University of Farmers. He will be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of all agency and customer contact center training, an audience of more than 25,000.

“Under Jim’s leadership, the University of Farmers has been successful in driving core business results for Farmers Insurance,” said Annette Thompson, senior vice president and chief learning pfficer (CLO) of Farmers Group Inc. “Since its creation in 2004 the University has won upwards of 30 industry awards, for its positive impact on Farmers’ agents and district managers. Farmers University won the coveted Corporate University of the Year in 2007, and Jim has been pivotal in all of these successes,” Thompson added.

Harwood joined the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies in the Vancouver Regional Office as an underwriter in 1989. He held a number of underwriting and field operations positions until 2002, when he was promoted to Kansas State executive director. In 2003, he returned to the Los Angeles corporate home office to lead the sales training team. In this role, he was instrumental in the launch of the University of Farmers. His most recent promotion was in April of 2008 to assistant vice president over agency training.
