For her continued support of the occupational safety and health profession and her ongoing effort to protect people, property and the environment, Lockton Companies LLC Vice President – Risk Control Services Manager Christine Sullivan of Littleton, Colo., recently received the Council on Practices and Standards (CoPS) Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) Award from the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).
The CoPS SPY award recognizes achievement of a safety professional in the specialized areas of ASSE’s Practice Specialties and pays tribute to their outstanding accomplishments in these areas. Practice Specialties include: academics, construction, consultants, engineering, environmental, fire protection, healthcare, industrial hygiene, international, management, manufacturing, mining, oil & gas, public sector, risk management/insurance (RM/I), and transportation.
Sullivan is an active professional member of ASSE and a member of the Council on Professional Development (CoPD) as well as ASSE’s RM/I and Management Practice Specialties. She currently serves as editor for the RM/I Practice Specialty (PS) technical bulletin. Last year, Sullivan received the ASSE RM/I SPY award and also chaired the Professional Development Conference (PDC) committee. She is also a member of the ASSE Colorado Chapter.
CoPS SPY recipients are evaluated within five categories: demonstrated knowledge and expertise; practice specialty/ASSE activities; professional contributions; leadership/management’ and endorsement from respective PS leadership. In addition, the CoPS SPY recipient is then nominated by CoPS for ASSE’s Edgar Monsanto Queeny SPY the following year.
