Arizona authorities say there were fewer DUI arrests made over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend compared to a year ago.
According to statistics from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, there were 273 DUI arrests statewide from Thursday through Sunday. That’s down from 289 in the same period in 2011.
Aggravated DUIs dropped from 33 this St. Patrick’s Day weekend to 19 during the same period a year ago and extreme DUIs decreased from 92 to 72.
The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety didn’t organize statewide DUI task forces like it normally does for other holidays.
Agencies across Arizona conducted their own saturation enforcements throughout the weekend.
